I can remember stealing my mom’s Kodak 110 and using whatever film was left, and then pretending to keep shooting as I ran the flash dry. Since then I have lived in the far corners of the U.S., and wherever I went a camera was in tow.
My undergraduate degree was in marketing, and while I went the typical business route for a while, my life took a turn (okay a few turns) since that time. I moved from Tampa, FL to Telluride, CO when I was 23. This is when I took my deepest dive into photography. I was given a working Canon AE-1 and began to shoot black and white film in the San Juan mountains and surrounding areas. I also started to delve into digital photography but realized that film was teaching me what I needed at that time.
Then I moved back to Anchorage, AK, and while working for a gold mining company, I went all in on my penchant for photography. I formed BeauRyan Photography. I sold prints in the storefront where I worked and shot weddings on the weekends, but I was always fueled by landscapes and nature.
After almost entering the military and fast-tracking into the special forces, I ended up going to chiropractic school and I have spent the past decade in practice. Becoming an internationally recognized physician and educator. In that time I have been lucky enough to marry my wife, Sloan, have two beautiful girls, write a book, establish a few businesses, and all the while I continue to add to my portfolio.
